GOOD STUFF
INFORMATION, THOUGHTS, PONDERINGS AND THINGS TO CONSIDER
My hope is by sharing some of my practices with you, I can help and inspire some peace, relief and grounding, so you are able to function better in a world that can feel like the its shifting beneath your feet.

-
Intentional Gathering- Now more than ever creating time and being intentional about connecting with others, friends, family and support people is not a luxury it’s a necessity. Here’s your permission slip! Make plans with those you can count on, who listen, people who bring you joy, lift you up or be someone else’s hype person. Human connection is essential and a basic part of our humanity like water and air. What does purposeful planning look like; text the friend, grab the coffee, pick up the phone and put it in your calendar! When is NOW, a good time? It’s really all we have.
-
FUN, Joy and being silly- There are times when laughter and fun seem out of reach, like it’s almost insulting to other’s sensibilities and the world around you. Guilt for being joyful when others are suffering can be a powerful deterrent. It certainly has been for me in the past. Honestly that is just BS! In fact, it is the most important time to find joy, seek fun and be a little bit goofy. Scientifically we now can measure how people co-regulate, how it affects the brain, heartbeat, blood pressure when we are having fun and how stress makes us unhealthy in so many ways. For me its music, being creative, dancing and yes speaking with a funny accent all day with my kiddo. I blast the radio in my car and sing at the top of my lungs, I put on an old album and dance in my living room. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just fun.
-
Emotional, Spiritual and Physical Grounding- What does it mean to feel grounded? For me it means I’m mentally and emotionally stable, I feel safe and connected to a higher power. It doesn’t matter if it looks different for you, it can look however you want it to. I believe we intrinsically know when our mind, body and spirit are aligned and when they are not.
The first thing I do is to check in with myself, yep, I check in with myself! It can be a simple as asking what I am feeling today. We do this unconsciously all the time, we know when we feel ill or are snippy with people or are having a good day or bad day.Sounds easy, but it’s not, because people are busy and so we ignore or delay what’s truly happening within us.Did you ever get to the end of the day and say, I feel exhausted, or my left knee suddenly hurts. We put off or disregard our own needs all the time.
As a way of consciously checking in, I like to sit in silence or meditate, do some stretching or simply putting my hand on my heart and breathe.Breath work is easily becoming one of my obsessions, it’s really life changing. Some people do this while going for a daily walk or exercise, whatever feels right to you just say hello, how am I feeling right now, then listen to what your, body, mind or soul needs and do something that supports that.
Types of grounding-

Spiritual Grounding- Going to a place of worship or speaking with a spiritual leader or person you respect. Praying or meditation, spiritual music, art, rituals, or reading a spiritual text. Any time spent that connects you to your higher power or purpose, whatever that looks like for you. Even people who are agnostic ground in other ways physically or emotionally.

Physical Grounding- As human beings we are nature, we don’t live in nature, we are part of nature. We are made up of the same minerals, chemicals and energy in our natural world, we are stardust. When we are hungry, we eat, when we are thirsty, we drink water, so when we are disconnected from our bodies what should we do. Have you ever heard someone say go touch grass? This refers to people who are inside on different devices and disconnected with the natural world. We are bombarded by distractions. Some of the practices I do regularly are taking an Epsom salt bath, going for a walk outside, putting my feet or hands in the dirt, and yes, I hug trees. I hug trees because I know we have a symbiotic relationship with them. I give them carbon and they give me oxygen, its perfect. Forest bathing is fun and jumping into a lake or ocean even better. Other types of physical grounding are gardening or taking care of indoor plants, cold plunging and so many more.

Emotional Grounding- I talk to my best friend and my kid just about every day and believe me when I tell you they definitely keep me grounded. Having a good emotional support system is critical these days. Whether it’s an emotional support group, friends, family, therapist or community tap into those resources and do it regularly. I like journalling and adult coloring books. They are both physical and emotional grounding for me. Hobbies can be a great way to emotionally ground no matter what the hobby is. I know I always feel better when I create. It helps regulate my emotions in a big way. I also utilize crystals to help emotionally and energetically ground. Some crystals such as Black Tourmaline and Onyx as well as Tigers eye and others help ground your emotional state and repel negative energy. I not only wear them daily but give them as a gift to friends and family. I would be amiss if I did not mention Reiki healing for emotional, spiritual and physical grounding. Reiki removes negative energy from your physical field and replaces it with God/life force energy. People report an elevated sense of relaxation, ease and spiritual balance after a Reiki session. Meditation and sound baths are also ways to help ground emotionally, spiritually and physically together.
I hope you have found some purposeful practices to help you.
May you be safe, may you be peaceful, may you be healthy and may you live with ease!
